Joining Team Ontario for the 2026 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC)

What is the NAHC?

The National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC) is a prestigious, Hockey Canada-sanctioned event that showcases the best Indigenous hockey talent from across the country. The 2026 NAHC will take place from May 3–9, 2026, in Regina, Saskatchewan.

 

Who is eligible to join Team Ontario?

To be eligible for Team Ontario, you must meet the following criteria:
  • Age: You must be born between 2008 and 2012 (inclusive).
  • Indigenous Ancestry: You must be of Indigenous heritage.
  • Education: You must be enrolled full-time in school.
  • Residency:
    • Your parent(s) or guardian(s) must reside permanently in Ontario, OR
    • You must be attending a full-time provincial hockey academy in Ontario.

 

How do I express interest in joining?

To begin the process, you need to submit an expression of interest by March 1, 2026. This is the first step toward being considered for Team Ontario.

 

When and where are tryouts?

Tryouts for Team Ontario will be held in early 2026 at locations in both northern and southern Ontario. Specific dates and venues will be announced soon. Stay updated by subscribing to our newsletter or following our social media channels.
