What is the Aboriginal Coaching Module (ACM) and How Do I Participate?

The Aboriginal Coaching Module (ACM) is a unique and impactful training program designed to equip sports coaches with the knowledge and skills to work effectively with Indigenous athletes and communities.

Developed with input from Indigenous leaders, the ACM provides insights into Indigenous culture, values, and traditions, helping coaches create inclusive and supportive environments in their sports programming.

Why the ACM Matters

For coaches working with Indigenous athletes, understanding the cultural context is key to building trust and fostering meaningful relationships. The ACM covers essential topics like:
  • Holistic Approach to Coaching: Learn how to support athletes in sport, recreation, and life through a culturally informed lens.
  • Dealing with Racism in Sport: Understand racism, learn key terms, and apply strategies to manage it in sports.
  • Individual and Community Health and Wellness: Understand the coaching community, mental health in sports, health practices, diet, and strategies for positive change.
Whether you're a seasoned coach or just starting your journey, the ACM offers valuable tools to enhance your coaching practice and make a lasting impact in Indigenous communities.
