What is the Standing Bear Program?
Standing Bear is ISWO's youth leadership development program.
The Standing Bear program, created by ISWO, is a youth leadership initiative aimed at empowering Indigenous youth. It focuses on enhancing individual and community wellness by providing a culturally relevant framework. This framework helps young people build confidence, find purpose, strengthen their identity, and create support networks.
Through workshops, mentorship, and community involvement, participants grow personally and become community leaders. Standing Bear emphasizes cultural identity and resilience as the key to nurturing strong future leaders in Indigenous communities.
